Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers

As we head towards the holidays I want to thank our amazing school community, our fabulous staff and our lovely students for realising not only the seriousness of the current situation, but also for rising to the occasion and doing your part to keep everyone safe.

Tomaree Public School are doing their part in keeping our community safe by the provision of on-line learning packages, placing staff on flexible working arrangements and ensuring the safety of students for those parents who are still employed by enabling students to attend school.

There is no doubt that we will be using this current format as we start Term 2. At this point in time we cannot give an indication as to how long this will occur, but as we head into our cold and flu season, social distancing and on-line learning will certainly become the norm in the foreseeable future.

It is certainly a time where we have all been pushed out of our comfort zones and into roles that we did not even think about a few short months ago.

There will be a more comprehensive note coming out in the next day or so which will explain some of the changes that we will be implementing in Term 2. This includes Stage 2 and 3 students learning to interact with their peers and teachers through Microsoft Teams. You can access this through a number of devices including laptops, computers, and IPads.

Recently we sent information to the Department of Education letting them know about the numbers of laptops that would be required, as indicated by families last week, to enable the successful interaction of on-line learning in the digital form. As the Department of Education will be resourcing Stage 6 (HSC) students first, I have no indication as to  when or if these laptops would be available for students to loan. As such, hard copies will continue to be made available for any student who is unable to work digitally.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we continue to fight to keep everyone safe and healthy.
