K-2 Seahorse Saviour Excursion

Students in K-2 have been learning about seahorses as part of the Early Stage One and Stage One science curriculum. We  have been working in collaboration with Project Humble and with the local Fisheries to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences for your child, focusing on the conservation of seahorses given their population decline in our local waterways over recent years.

As part of this course we will join students from other schools in our region for the Seahorse Saviour Development Day, also known as a ‘Splashdown Day’.

This day marks the culmination of the scientific learning experiences explored throughout class learning in Term 3.

On this day we will hand over our seahorse hotels to the Fisheries team for deployment in the marine sanctuary zone near Fly Point and Little Beach, playing an important role in the conservation of the endangered White Seahorse.

Other activities throughout the day will include: nature walks, sandcastle building contests and other novelty competitions.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to apply their learning in a real-world setting.
